A Fire Behavior Discussion

This is a short video discussion about the current national debate concerning fire behavior research. This has been a polarizing debate in some cases and it is the intent of this video is to look at both sides of the equation and realize that there are multiple solutions, depending upon your department resources, and what fire you pull up to. This discussion also focuses on firefighter safety.

Firefighting Today Weekly Roundtable – Fire Service Expectations

This week the panel will discuss the expectations of the fire service. What does and officer EXPECT of their personnel? What do the personnel EXPECT of the Chief and officers? What does the public EXPECT of us? What does city government EXPECT of us? One identified, how do all of these expectations affect us? What do we do about them.
Watch us live on YOUTUBE and post a comment to have the panel answer, or post your comments ahead of time on this events page and we will bring them into the discussion.

You can also watch here at firefightingtoday.com and see all of our archive discussions. More Importantly you can be sure to subscribe to the YOUTUBE Channel fdtraining1 and never miss a post!

Tactical Fire Problem – Commercial freight elevator

This week we have a problem in a commercial freight elevator.

1.) What type of building would you find a freight service elevator like this? What is the age and/or construction of the building?

2.) What are the ventilation considerations if this is in the basement or lower level?

3.) Is the fire contained to the car or is smoke spreading from somewhere else, depending upon floor it is located on?

4.) What could the contents be?

5.) How do you make entry and/or operate, or secure this car?

Tactical Fire Problem – Car Near Building

This week we take a car fire but our exposure is a wood frame building. Is it “just a car fire”?

1.) What is the standard response in your FD for a car fire?

2.) What is your first priority when you arrive on scene? (Trick question here, think about it)

3.) What size attack line and where? (Another trick question!!)

4.) Have you ever recreated this scenario in one of your in service training drills?

5.) Tank water? Supply line? Enhanced water stream with agent or foam?
